Understanding Your LGBTQI Client:
Establishing a safe clinical environment for connection, support, & growth
Fri, April 16, 2021
9:30 AM – 4:00 PM EST
In a collaborative effort to inform and create understanding for mental health providers surrounding LGBTQI clients, this training brings clinicians, direct care staff, and providers together to learn the spectrum of best practices for our clients. Participants will learn terms and basic concepts surrounding gender & sexuality, ways of communicating with compassion & respect, some professional research statistics, and some effects of addiction & trauma. Clinicians are seeing more LGBTQI individuals seeking help. This is not trend. Today we are seeing more individuals feeling safer in coming out, and we, as behavioral health professionals, need to be knowledgeable and create spaces that are safe, supportive, and provide corrective healing experiences for these individuals.

Navigating Societal Gender Roles: Trauma-Informed Responses for Healing
mon, June 28, 2021
2:00pm – 5:00 pm est
Atlanta, GA
Christy Plaice will be presenting at the 8th Annual ADACBGA Conference: Embracing & Enhancing Clinical Competencies. This dynamic training is for those who desire education in relation to self and clients – where our biases, hurts, understandings and misunderstandings, have a place to land. Participants will leave with increased self-discovery and insight in trauma-informed response for healing and wellness around gender ‘roles’.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain an understanding of how a male responsive trauma-informed care system differs from traditional trauma-informed care systems that were traditionally developed for women
- Differentiate various traumas: verbal and non-verbal responses in regards to gender identity
- Cultivate a deeper sense of awareness of one’s own personal biases, judgments, shame, & empowerment around gender
